Monday, February 3rd is Voter Registration Deadline for the March 3rd Election
Monday, February 3rd is the last day Wilson County residents can register to vote in the March 3rd Presidential Preference Primary. State law allows new voter registration applications to be processed up until the 30th day before each election. Applications received after the deadline will be processed after Election Day.
Registering to vote is as easy as visiting www.WilsonElections.com and clicking on the Voter Registration link on the homepage. The link will connect to GoVoteTN.org where eligible residents can quickly and securely complete and submit their voter registration or address change. In order to submit a voter registration application online you must have a Tennessee driver's license or Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security ID. If you do not have a Tennessee driver's license or Tennessee Department of Safety and Homeland Security ID, you will be able to print the voter registration form and submit by mail.
Voter registration forms are available throughout the county at government offices and many businesses. Voter registration forms, information about voting and other election related topics are always accessible on the Election Commission website, www.WilsonElections.com. Of course, applicants can visit the Wilson County Election Commission office at 203 East Main St in Lebanon to register or make changes to their registration in person.
“We encourage voters to visit our website and take advantage of online voter registration. It is a convenient and secure way to change your address or register to vote,” said Phillip Warren, Administrator of Elections.
To be eligible to vote in Tennessee you must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Tennessee, at least 18 years old on/or before the next election and if convicted of a felony, your eligibility to register and vote depends upon the crime you were convicted of and the date of your conviction. If your conviction made you ineligible, you may regain your eligibility if your conviction has been expunged or if you have had your voting rights restored, unless you were convicted of a crime that rendered you permanently ineligible to vote.
Tammy Smith, Assistant Administrator reminds all voters to, “bring your Tennessee or federally issued photo ID when you come to vote during Early Voting or on Election Day. Take advantage of Early Voting for the Republican and Democratic Presidential Preference Primary, the Wilson County Republican Primary and the Wilson County Sales Tax Referendum election. You may vote early February 12th through February 25th at any of the five convenient locations. Avoid possible lines, bad weather or anything else that could keep you from voting in this election.”
