EARLY  VOTING - ABSENTEE VOTING
                           
FEDERAL  &  STATE  GENERAL  ELECTIONS  -  COUNTY  GENERAL  ELECTION
LEBANON  SPECIAL  SCHOOL  DISTRICT  ELECTION
                        
THURSDAY,  AUGUST  5,  2010  ELECTIONS

EARLY  VOTING  -   All registered voters may vote early during the period beginning Friday, July 16th, and ending Saturday, July  31st.  For the above named elections, EARLY VOTING  will be held at the following locations:

Please bring some form of identification with you when you come to vote (such as your voter card, driver license, social security card, etc.). Voters who have moved
within Wilson County may change their address during Early Voting while they are voting or, by sending a change of address in writing to this office by Saturday,
July 31st.  VOTERS  WHO  FAIL TO  CHANGE  THEIR  ADDRESS  PRIOR  TO  ELECTION  DAY  WILL  EXPERIENCE  A  DELAY  IN  VOTING  AT  THE
POLLS  AND  MAY  BE  DIRECTED  TO  ANOTHER  POLLING  PLACE  IN  ORDER  TO VOTE  A  CORRECT  BALLOT.

               NOTICE:     Persons registering to vote on By-Mail Forms, regardless of whether it is an actual By-Mail Form or downloaded off the Internet,
                are required to vote in person at the polls or in person during Early Voting the first time after they register to vote.

ABSENTEE VOTING BY MAIL  -   Requests for Absentee Ballots by Mail will be accepted through, Thursday, July 29th. Such requests must be in writing
over the voter’s signature and shall contain all required information to serve as an Application for Ballot.  Call 444-0216 for more information.  Voters may vote
Absentee by Mail for the following reasons:
 

  1. If for any reason other than imprisonment, the voter is outside the county when he/she applies for an absentee ballot and expects to remain outside the county during the period established for Early Voting and on Election Day.
  2. If the voter is observing a religious holiday.
  3. If the voter is a full-time student or spouse of a full-time student at an accredited college, university, or similar accredited institution in this state outside the county where the voter is registered.  
  4. If the voter is serving as a juror on a state or federal court.
  5. If the voter is a candidate for office.
  6. If the voter is an election official, a member or an employee of the Election Commission on Election Day.
  7. If the voter is on the Permanent Absentee Voter Register because he/she is either temporarily or permanently ill, hospitalized or disabled and, can not come to an Early Voting location or go to the polls.
  8. If the voter is disabled and his/her polling place is not accessible.
  9. If the voter is sixty-five (65) years of age or older when he/she requests to vote.
  10. If the voter is hospitalized, ill or physically disabled and because of such condition, the voter is unable to appear at his/her polling place on Election Day.
  11. If the voter is a caretaker of a hospitalized, ill or disabled person.            
  12. If the voter is a full-time resident of any licensed nursing home, home for the aged or similar licensed institution providing relatively permanent domiciliary care outside the voter’s county of  residence, upon receipt of the doctor’s certificate and application or under the procedure established  for voter’s outside of the county.     


ELDERLY  OR  DISABLED  VOTERS  -  Elderly or disabled voters assigned to vote in precincts wherein the polling place is not accessible may vote at the Election Commission Office during Early Voting or on election day.  Voters who choose to vote on Election Day shall, IN WRITING, notify the Election Commission not less
than ten (10) days (July 26th) prior to any election. This notice will serve as a permanent request until such time as the polling place is made accessible or the voter requests otherwise.   

The Election Commission does not discriminate on the basis of disability. If there are questions about needed accommodations in the voting process, please call
444-0216.  Voters with impaired hearing may call Tennessee Relay Center at 1-800-848-0299 – Voice or 1-800-848-0298 – TDD/TTY Users.  Voters who are speech impaired may utilize Speech to Speech (STS) Relay by calling 1-800-229-5746.

EMERGENCY  ABSENTEE  VOTING  -   Voters hospitalized within this county may request the services of an emergency absentee voting deputy.  Requests for
this service shall not be made more than twenty (20) days (July 16th) prior to the election and no later than the opening of the polls on Election Day.  In addition to
the above, emergency provisions for the death of a relative of a voter or, for a voter who has received a subpoena or service of process requiring his/her presence on election day, upon showing reasonable proof to the Administrator of Elections or to a Deputy, shall be eligible to vote by personal appearance at the Election
Commission Office not more than five (5) days (July 31st) nor later than the day prior to the election.
