STATE  &  COUNTY  GENERAL  ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that a  REPUBLICAN  PRIMARY  ELECTION, a  DEMOCRATIC  PRIMARY  ELECTION, and a STATE and COUNTY GENERAL ELECTION
will be held in all voting precincts of Wilson County, Tennessee on Thursday, August 5, 2010 between the hours of  7:00 a.m.  and 7:00 p.m. The above elections are called for the purpose of electing officials to fill the offices listed below:

REPUBLICAN  &  DEMOCRATIC  PRIMARY  ELECTIONS 

GENERAL  ELECTION -  WILSON COUNTY

United States House of Representatives –
  5th Congressional  District (term - 2 years)

United States House of Representatives  –
  6th Congressional District (term – 2 years)

Governor  (term – 4 years)

Tennessee State Senate - 17th District  (term – 4 years)

Includes Wilson, Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith and Trousdale Counties and a small portion of Sumner Co.


Tennessee House of  Representatives  -  46th  District (term - 2 years)

In Wilson County, Districts/Precincts 6, 7, 9, 12, 14-BOE, 15, 17, 19, 20, 21, 23 and 24 and all of Cannon and  Trousdale Counties


Tennessee House of Representatives – 57th District (term – 2 years)

In Wilson County, Districts/Precincts 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11, 13, 14-GLV, 16, 18, 22 and 25 and a small portion of Sumner County


State Executive Committeeman –
  17th District (Both parties) (term - 4 years)

Includes Wilson, Cannon, Clay, DeKalb, Macon, Smith & Trousdale Counties & a small portion of Sumner Co.

Requires proof of High School Education or equivalent by qualifying deadline. Reside in Zone.

LEBANON  SPECIAL  SCHOOL  DISTRICT  ELECTION

Notice is hereby given that a LEBANON SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT ELECTION will be held in all voting precincts of the Lebanon Special School District on
Thursday, August 5, 2010 between the hours of  7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. for the purpose of electing the following:
 
School Board Member – (term – 6 years)
         Proof of High School Education or equivalent required by qualifying deadline.  Must reside in Lebanon Special School District                   
Only registered voters residing within the Lebanon Special School District are eligible to vote in this election.

--QUALIFYING  DEADLINE FOR ALL OF THE ABOVE NAMED OFFICES--
Qualifying petitions for the above named offices are available at the office of the Wilson County Election Commission, 203 E. Main Street, Lebanon.  These petitions
must be turned in by 12 Noon, Thursday, April 1st to the Election Commission Office or, if required, to the Office of the Coordinator of Elections, 312 Rosa Parks
Ave., 9th Floor, William R. Snodgrass Tower, Nashville, Tennessee  37243 in order to have your name placed on the ballot.  Petitions of Independent Candidates
for offices to be elected on the November General Election ballot must also be filed by 12 Noon, Thursday, April 1st.  The offices of Tennessee State Senator, Tennessee House of Representatives, State Executive Committeeman and Committeewoman and Criminal Court Judge require certified duplicate petitions to be filed
in all counties where the candidate will be on the ballot.  Any duplicate petitions which are required, MUST be filed by this deadline as are the originals.  The With-
drawal Deadline is Thursday, April  8th at 12 Noon.  Withdrawal statements must be in writing signed by the candidate.

--DEADLINE TO  REGISTER  TO  VOTE--
The last day to register to vote in the Election Commission Office for the August 5th elections is Tuesday, July the 6th.  (The office will be closed on Monday, July
the 5th for the Independence Day holiday).  You may register to vote at the Wilson County Election Commission Office during regular office hours or you may register
at the Department of Motor Vehicle Driver Testing Centers, the Department of Human Services, the Health Department or any other public assistance agency. Voters
who register at the above named offices are considered  “in person”  registrations.  You may also pick up by-mail registration forms at the office of the Register of
Deeds, any of the County Clerk’s Offices, the Libraries within Wilson   County and at some Post Offices.
 
Registration by-mail forms postmarked by July 6th will be processed for this election.  NOTICE:   Forms dropped at the post office or in postal boxes after the last
pickup on the 6th of July will not be postmarked until July 7th which will be too late for this election.  Forms postmarked July 7th or later, will be held and processed
after the August 5th election.

 
--ADDRESS  OR  NAME  CHANGE  DEADLINE--
Voters who are already registered to vote in Wilson County may change their address or name by sending in their old registration card with the corrections; or, by
sending a note (with old and new address, if applicable and date of birth and social security number) requesting said change over their signature; or, by coming to
the Election Commission Office until Saturday, July the 31st to make the change; or, by making the change while casting your vote during Early Voting.
                

WE  ENCOURAGE  ALL  REGISTERED  VOTERS  OF  WILSON  COUNTY  WHO  HAVE  MOVED  WITHIN  THE  COUNTY  OR  HAD  A NAME  CHANGE  TO  MAKE  THESE  CHANGES  AS  SUGGESTED  ABOVE.  YOU  WILL  EXPERIENCE  A  DELAY  IN  VOTING  IF  YOU FAIL  TO  MAKE  THESE  CHANGES  PRIOR  TO  ELECTION  DAY.


 
The Election Commission Office is located at 203 East Main Street in Lebanon. Office hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. The office will be
closed Monday, July the 5th for the holiday.  Call  444-0216  for further information on qualifying for office, voter registration or other questions pertaining to the
election process.  Hours for Early Voting will be published prior to the election with the Notice of Early Voting and Absentee Voting.
